Hi FL1-Wingers!

We hope you had a blessed Easter weekend.  And, this is great riding weather!  We hope you are getting the opportunity to ride. 

Green Eggs and Ham is in two weeks!!   Saturday, April 28 at 8:30!   Oh, my goodness!  We’ve heard from so many with, "What can I do?"  Thank you!  We need everyone!  We need bake goods (cookies, brownies, chips, etc) for the bake sale table, we need cakes for the cake walk, we need helpers to set up tables and get them ready with a few sprinkles for our visitors, and we need game workers to help people with the games.  We even need security for the parking lot.  Oh, there is something for everyone!  Call Connie at 352-516-5180 or just show up the day of rally!  Thank you in advance.  Even if you can help for just an hour or two!  Blessings to you.

Chapter Director’s Message (3/26/12)

Hi Everyone,

     What a great "Pirate Parley" we had this past weekend.  The FL District Rally was a lot of fun.  Read all about it in the upcoming newsletter.  We want to thank all those who came out to participate and to those that volunteered to work at the rally.  You were all very much appreciated.  We also want to thank FL1-H2 Orlando, for coming to our chapter dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse on Friday evening and for inviting us to your luncheon on Saturday afternoon.  It’s always great to see everyone having a good time.

Hi to all,

     We had a great time last week with a jammed packed week.  We had two rides; one mid week to the Speedway for Bike Week and one on Saturday to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.  Both were great rides!  On Wednesday we had a Tire Kick and Friday we helped stuff the Registration Packets for the Florida District Rally.  It was a busy week!

     Now we turn our attention to the Florida District Rally that will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week.  Thursday night at the rally will be the Pirate’s Feast at 6:00.  Then we will be having a Winger dinner on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Logan’s Roadhouse, 5925 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee.  Closing ceremonies will be on Saturday at 7:00 where they will give away a new 2012 Gold Wing!  The Pirates are coming to town!!

Chapter Director’s Message (3/12/12)

Hi FL1-Winger Family,

     Thanks to all those who came out for the Monthly Chapter Gathering!  We had fun celebrating the month of March with St. Patty’s Day green and playing pirate with all those fabulous phrases like, "Ahoy there maties," and "Arrrrrr, walk the plank!"  After all, we are just kids in grownup bodies!   St. Patrick’s Day is coming next week with a lunch ride to Hagan O’Reilly’s Irish Pub.  The pirate fun is coming in buckets when we get to go to the Florida District Rally in less than two weeks!  We were practicing for all these upcoming events at the Monthly Chapter Gathering.  Thanks to all that came out, and to Chapter H2 for their visit.  We also want to welcome Glen and Joyce Hanes.  We enjoyed having you join us!

Chapter Director’s Message (3/4/12)

Hi FL1-Winger Family,

The Tire Kick at Olive Garden in Clermont was last Wednesday.  Everyone said they had a nice evening.  Thanks to Paul and Diane for hosting that Tire Kick and for those that came out to enjoy the food and conversation.

This week we have a lunch ride scheduled for Tuesday and our Monthly Chapter Gathering on Saturday at 4:30.  Hope to see you at one of these scheduled events or on the road enjoying some of this great weather.

Chapter Director’s Message (2/28/12)

Hi FL1-Winger Family,

As you know, Patti Sloat, our former Sr. Chapter Director, has moved to Nebraska to be closer to her son.  She, along with James, was the brains behind the success of our breakfast rally, Green Eggs & Ham.  With Patti’s move, Ted and I were at a loss of what to do.  Thank goodness for people with a willing attitude and generosity of heart!  Connie Miller has agreed to take on the challenge of running the rally for our chapter!  Hurray Connie!!  She is trying to get caught up on all the stuff that Patti has and has not already done.  Those who know Patti, know that she is a great organizer.  Patti met with Connie (I was just there as a moral support) and they went over everything.  I have no idea how Connie is going to remember everything.  I had forgotten by the time I was getting into my car.  I have every faith in Connie!  Connie has a natural bent toward organization also and Patti has everything lined up for the rally in an organized and logical way.  We all need to support Connie in any way we can.  We just want to say thank you, Connie, for stepping up to head this event.  It is huge, and the profit from this runs the chapter for a year!    We know that Patti is leaving it in good hands.  Thank you Connie!!

With that being said, Patti and Connie created two work days in April to get all of the games, door prizes, games prizes, silent auction items in order.  So you say, "But we aren’t even into the month of March yet!"  That’s true, but this is such a big deal that it takes time to plan and do.  We’ll be talking about this more as we get closer, but you probably want to know what is happening now.  The Work Days are on Saturday mornings starting at ten.  Hopefully it will just take 2 or 3 hours and then we’ll head out for lunch somewhere.  If everything gets completed on the first Work Day, then the second will probably be cancelled.  Please come out and let Connie boss you around for a while.  It’s not a bad deal to work for one month and play for the rest of the year!  Your time and effort will be greatly appreciated.

Chapter Director’s Message (2/21/12)

Hi Wingers,

                                                                                                    
The St. Augustine Lighthouse Ride for this coming Saturday has been cancelled.  Gary Hoop, who was to be our Road Captain, has been called away on family concerns, therefore, we will postpone this ride for a later date. 

Patti Sloat, our former Sr. Chapter Director, has decided to move to Nebraska to be closer to her son.  We’ve decided to get together at the Olive Garden in Altamonte Springs, just west of I-4, on SR 436 (300 West 436, Altamonte Springs) at 11:30 on Saturday for lunch.  Hopefully you can come because it is always, "the more the merrier!"  She is planning on leaving the following Monday.

The Tire Kick at the new 4 Rivers Smokehouse was well attended.  The FL1-Wingers took up two big tables inside.  Great food and a great time.  Last Saturday fourteen went on the Green Swamp Ride!  The weather was perfect and the Green Swamp was country beautiful.  A late lunch at the Redwing Restaurant topped off the day.  It was good to see everyone.  To those that attended these two chapter events, thanks for coming!  Your participation is truly appreciated.

Chapter Director’s Message (2/6/12)

Hi All you Wingers! 

We had a great Tire Kick at Christopher’s Italian Restaurant.  Man do they have good calzone!  It was a very nice evening and  thanks to everyone who came out and broke a little bread together. 

Another "delicious" time was had at Yalaha Bakery Lunch Ride today!  Seventeen hearty and starving souls came out to eat fresh sandwiches with bread baked this morning.  Yum!  I just couldn’t eat my Cherry Strudel dessert though and brought it home.  After we ate, we sat around the patio and talked and told lies until it was evident that we should go home. I had a wonderful time and thanks to everyone who came out and made us laugh!

Chapter Director’s Message (1/11/12)

Hi Wingers!

Our normal Monthly Chapter Gathering is cancelled this month.  Next week the "After-the-Holiday’s Party" will take it’s place.  Instead, this Saturday we will be riding to the Lakeland chapter rally.  Their theme is "Cowboys & Indians."   Kickstands up (KSU)  at 8:00 from the Apopka Post Office on Park Ave.  Bring your transponder in case we go down the 429.  I’ll send their flyer in a separate email.

Our "After-the-Holidays Party" is on the next Saturday, January 21st.  It is being catered by Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ again this year.   The party will start at 4:30 at the Rock Springs MHP Clubhouse, 39 W Tanglewood Dr, Apopka.  Bring a finger food or dessert please.  Also, each person should bring a wrapped gift (value $10) marked for "Girl," "Boy," or "Either."  It will be a fun time, especially when the "Crazy Gift Exchange" begins.  Feel free to wear holiday or casual attire.  Cost is $5 per person/$8 at the door.  Contact Jim Gorski (jg528@aol.com or 407-616-6668) to reserve your place.

Remember to save April 28th for our rally.  Our theme is "Green Eggs & Ham."  Save the date!!

Hi Wingers!

Welcome to the start of a new year!  We predict this will be a great year.  The FL1-Wingers have a Tire Kick scheduled tonight at Tijuana Flats (Ole’) besides Publix on SR 434 and Wekiva Springs Rd.  Ohhh!  It’s going to be a cold one!  Brrr!  This will be a Polar Bear Ride!  Whether you come on two, three, or four wheels, we look forward to seeing you there!
