FL1-W Chapter Gathering (3/10/12)

Thanks to all those who came out for the Monthly Chapter Gathering! We had fun celebrating the month of March with St. Patty’s Day green.  With the upcoming Florida District Rally “Pirates Parle”, we had fun with playing pirate with all those fabulous phrases like, "Ahoy there maties," and "Arrrrrr, walk the plank!" After all, we are just kids in grownup bodies!  Thanks to all that came out, and to Chapter H2 for their visit. We also want to welcome Glen and Joyce Hanes. We enjoyed having you join us!

Chapter Gathering (2-11-12)

Apopka and had our own Winger Monthly Chapter Gathering.  Thanks to Kevin and Claire Lang for stepping up to fill the Assistant Chapter Director’s position, and thanks to Ken and Maryann Long for stepping into the Rider Education spot.  We look forward to their positive attitudes, ideas, and enthusiasm as they support our chapter.  Also, Patti Sloat, chapter newsletter editor, graciously accepted the award for winning Florida’s 3rd Place Black & White Newsletter Award.  Well done, Patti!  A big congratulations to you! 

 

We also want to welcome Charles and Henry who came for the first time.  It was good having you and we hope to see you again at another gathering or ride.  We also had some folks we haven’t seen for awhile and we want to say a howdy to them as well.  Welcome and we hope to see you again soon.  And to our regular members!  You guys rock!  You make it wonderful to just show up.  You make us laugh and add to our lives in a good way.  We enjoy your company so much, and feel you have blessed our lives.  We love when you come out and look forward to when we will see you again.  FL1-Wingers rock – big time!!

Chapter Gathering (12/10/11)

We had a really great Chapter Gathering with 31 attendees.  We welcomed Jim & Tania from Canada, and Ernie & Phyllis from Michigan.

Congratulations to Jim & Marilyn Pickup for being our 2012 Couple of Year.  Their dedication to the Chapter is immeasurable.

Congratulations to Jim Gorski for being our 2012 Individual of the year.  His commitment to the Chapter sets the standard for all of us to strive for.

A reminder was given for the FL1-W’s After Holiday Party on Jan 21st at 4:30pm, at the Rock Springs Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 39 W Tanglewood, Apopka FL 32712.  Pre-Registration (to Jim Gorski) is $5 per person.  $7.50 per person at the door.  Bring some finger food and a gift of $10 or more for the Crazy Gift Exchange.  The main course of BBQ will be supplied by the Chapter.

Chapter Gathering (10/8/11)

What a great turnout for our Chapter Gathering on Oct 8th.  We greatly appreciate our friends from FL2-G, FL1-H2, FL1-H, FL1-A, Cliff Hotchkiss and Joe & Jan Mazza from District, and Smitty for visiting.  Congratulations to Patti for winning First Place for Region A Black & White Newsletter Award.  Congratulations to Jim Gorski for obtaining his Master Level in the Rider Ed Program.  We had a lot of FUN!

FL1-W Chapter Gathering 09-10-2011

This was a somber gathering with the passing of our Chapter Director James Benson.

Chapter Gathering 8/13/11

WOW! What a great turnout for our Chapter Gathering (8/13/11).  I think I counted over 50 people.  We had guests from the District,  FL1-H2, FL1-G, and visitors from New Hampshire.
James and Patti talked about their trip and the flooding they had to detour around.  They also announced that they were stepping down as Chapter Directors and have made plans to move to Nebraska.  What an exciting change in their life.  We greatly appreciate their leadership for FL1-W over the many years and wish them an abundance of good luck and love well into the future.
Ted & Carolyn Russell will be stepping up to become our new Chapter Directors.  They will have some big shoes to fill but they will do a great job.
Smitty with the Central Florida Drill Team spoke about Pancreatic Cancer Research and the 2nd Annual Hanky Panky Poker Run on Nov 12th to support cancer research.
We also celebrated a few birthdays for Cliff Hitchkiss, Dale Raesly and Tom.

 

 

Chapter Gathering, 7/9/11

We had a great Chapter Gathering on Saturday (7/9).  It was a small turn out but we had fun.  Carolyn ran the meeting, while James and Patti were off on their adventure with attending Wing Ding and visiting family.  Carolyn did a fantastic job.  She added a personal touch and talked about finding her mother’s cookbook and reading “how to cook opossum”.  We all got a laugh about that.  She also talked about getting her bike (the “Rabbit”) triked and is excited but nervous about getting it back.  Ted spoke of having his front forks replaced by Traction Dynamics.  He spoke of Honda’s flaw for having a dampener system in one fork and a shock in the other fork, which creates an uneven compression.  Traction Dynamics replaces that with an even progressive system in both forks.

Kevin spoke of seeing the final Shuttle launch and taking his nephew (Brenden) for his first motorcycle ride.  Brenden absolutely loved the Gold Wing and didn’t flinch at the 155 miles for his first ride.  But, he got a little ribbing for wearing his Aunt Claire’s pink cool vest.

Paul & Diane talked about their recent trip to Hawaii and renting a Harley, because Gold Wings were not available.
That completes 49 out of 50 states that Paul has ridden in.  He is now considering a trip to Alaska to complete all 50 states.

Pat Books celebrated her birthday.

Cliff won the quarter bucket but was not there to collect.  So, it rolls over again to next month

Chapter Gathering 6/11/11

We had a small turnout for our Chapter Gathering tonight (6/11/11).  We want to welcome Jim & Jeanette Rafter from FL2-W for joining us tonight.  We also want to congratulate Mark & Luchy Reeder for becoming our new Motorist Awareness Coordinators and congratulations to Gary Hoop for becoming our new Ride Coordinator.  THANKS!

Kevin spoke of the importance of staying hydrated in the summer heat by drinking plenty of water and sports drinks, and avoiding sugary drinks, caffeine and alcohol.

Ken & Maryann Long won both 25/25 drawings.  I don’t think I have ever heard of a couple winning both drawings before.

Carolyn won the Quarter Bucket, but unfortunately for her, she wasn’t here to collect it.  So, it rolls over to next month.  It’s going to be big.  Come join us for our events and gatherings for your chance to win it.
