Medic First Aid Course (11/26/11)

On Saturday, November 26, Apopka Goldwinger Connie Miller taught a class on Medic First Aid and CPR. This class was important for those wanting to stay current in their GWRRA Rider Education Level’s Program. Connie directed the class through the easy to watch video with portions of practice on test dummies. Not only did we learn a lot, but we had fun while we did it. Connie did an excellent job of directing and instructing the class. Congratulations to Sue, Dick, Ted, Carolyn, Kevin, and Claire for successfully completing Medic First Air and CPR. Thank you Connie for teaching this class.

ERC Class (11-20-2011)

Sunday, November 20th found a full class of motorcyclists wanting to take the Experienced Rider Course (ERC).  The motorcyclists gathered at the edge of the practice course at Florida Motorcycle Training in Eustis to fill out their paperwork.  In an ERC class the riders ride their own bikes.  All the bikes were Goldwings with the exception of one Honda Shadow rider.  The class was full.  Two instructors took riders through weaves, emergency stops, slow rides, swerves, and the dreaded box.  The Apopka FL1-Wingers that participated did a great job!  Thanks to FL Rider Education in making this class free to all GWRRA members.

Road Captain Class (11/19/2011)

Congratulations to seven riders that have completed their Road Captain’s course; some for the first time and some for a refresher.  Saturday, November 19 found us at the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office off of Douglas Avenue in Altamonte Springs taking the class from FL District Ride Educator Don Danbury.  After completing the class portion of the course, the riders took to the streets to practice the skills necessary to become a Road Captain or Tailgunner.  We would like to thank Don Danbury for his excellent presentation and leadership.  We would further like to thank our Ride Educator, Kevin Lang, for setting up the class and assisting in the riding portion.  Again, congratulations, to our new Road Captains:  Jim, Gary, Ted, Carolyn, Kevin, Gary, and Jeff!  Watch for their names to go on the FL1-W website, click on Ride Educator page.

Florida District Chapter Conference

We had a good but busy time at the Florida District Chapter Conference . There were a lot of changes and clarifications.  But, like any successful organization there is alot of work that is done in the background and things must change and evolve. We appreciate all the hard work our FL1-W Team does to make FL1-W a successful Chapter.

Parking Lot Practice

Sunday’s PLP was hot but a success!  Lance had four bikers to take part in the practice.  Lance is a good instructor.  Carolyn, Ted, Elise and Ceasar (H2) seemed to learn from the practice.  Mora (H2), James and myself watched them riding.  James could not ride because of a problem with vision, so that meant I could not ride because travel was by car.  And you know, James is not a good co-rider!  It was better we went over by car to watch than for him be a co-rider!

Florida District Chapter Conference (in Kissimmee)

The Florida District Chapter Conference (in Kissimmee) was held on Jan 9th & 10th, and was attended by James & Patti, Brian & Connie, Ted & Carolyn, Jim Gorksi, Lance & Elise, Kevin & Claire, and Mark & Luchy. James & Patti were recognized as Senior Chapter Directors. Ted & Carolyn were recognized as Assistant Chapter Directors. Lance & Elise were recognized as Area Coordinator’s for the FL District Rider’s Ed.

Patti twisted her ankle the day before the conference and arrived in her chariot.
